Finished revision of everything else

I've finally went through all the lyrics, interviews and misc. translations on my site, and fixed a lot of grammatical errors, a few translation errors, and generally recast sentences that made little sense.

Especially in this older Siam Shade interview there were lots of things to fix.
Luckily, I didn't find any big translation errors. :)

Also in the interview with Daita, I had somehow missed these two lines:

Yamamoto: And I went to see SIAM SHADE's final concert at Budōkan. Even if I do say so myself, as you've been talking to me, it seems that we have a lot in common.

DAITA: Wow, that's great. We even had our final concerts at the same place.

Anyway, most of the things on my site should now be up to the quality that my current ability permits.

Now I can focus on adding more new stuff.

Revision of Siam Shade lyrics translations = done (again)

Once again I've gone through all the translations for Siam Shade's lyrics.
I fixed many grammatical errors, a few typos (and probably added new ones :P) and there were a few translation errors too.
I've also unified the style with my newer lyrics translations (starting each line with a capital).
Most importantly I've fixed lines that were awkward and literally translated. I've changed things in every translation pretty much, although sometimes it's just a word or two that I've changed.

There's still some lines in some translations I'm sure could be expressed more clearly.
I'll probably skim through the lyrics for such lines soon.

Future Plans et cetera

I've been a bit busy lately and haven't worked on new translations for my site. This will be a list of things that I still need(?) to do.

Improve old translations
For the past few days I've been fixing my translations of Onmyōza's and Lorelei's lyrics. I've been trying to make the language more idiomatic and have better rhythm, and I've changed some of the most obvious direct translations to better alternatives. For example, I think the translation for Nurikabe is now much better (it also had a clear mistake in it :-P).
I'm going to check most the translations on my site, first and foremost the lyrics and interviews. This is going to take a while.

Translate more Siam Shade stuff
There are still many videos around that haven't been translated. I have one unfinished translation lying around.
I also have about 47 magazine scans, though some of them might not be worth translating (e.g. one page gig reports, and some of them are missing pages).

Translate more Onmyōza lyrics
Well, the title pretty much says it all.
I also have a few Onmyōza interviews, but I haven't decided if I will translate those.

Other than those, I also have an unfinished translation of a video interview with the guitarist Oshio Kōtarō, which is about 30% done. Even if I finished it, I'm not sure where I should post it..
I've also thought about checking my old translations for the Yaguchi Hitori episodes and encoding them and maybe posting them as a torrent somewhere, but that has a very low priority.

I've been lazy updating this blog; does anyone even read it? Anyway, if you have any questions about a particular translation, Japanese language or anything else, I'll be happy to answer.
If there are any obvious errors or incoherent parts in my translations (and there are :), I don't mind having them pointed out.
I can also accept requests for (small) translations, like song lyrics.

YouTube Account Suspended

So, I was waiting for this to happen at some point; YouTube has suspended my account.
It was because of the clips from  お笑いさぁ～ん.
I'll create a new account at some point, but I probably won't be posting subtitled videos. I've left up the list of the videos that I had on my account, so if someone absolutely wants to see them they should email me.

I searched for quite a while for a good word, and I think "interact" fits well here.

I left the "usa" part of Tamura-tan's speech as it is since there's not really a way to translate it. :-)
It apparently comes from usagi, as you can see Morikubo and Tamura doing rabbit ears at the end of the video (or that's what I think they're doing :)

I don't know if there's a good English equivalent. I just used "hey!"

This probably doesn't work very well in English, but I couldn't think of anything better.
The word 刻む literally means "to engrave". In this sense of "engraving memories" it also appears a few times in the lyrics of Siam Shade.
English has a similar expression "engrave into one's memory".

Comments on The Single "Stand Down" Lyrics

As with the lyrics for ~kyo~, I have trouble making sense what some of the lines are trying to say.
I just translate them as I understand them. :-)

混在, in all of the examples I found in dictionaries this word is only used as a suru-verb.

Not sure how to interpret the word 弾け飛ぶ in the middle.

届け
This is the imperative of arrive/reach. e.g. "Reach your destination!"
I'm not sure how to translate it understandably (with one word). I've put it as "fulfill." I'll probably change it if/when I can think of something better.

Not sure what is being cast off.

In "Kiri no mukou de" there is a line "奮える魂", pronounced the same but written with a different kanji...

Not sure what this means either.

I didn't even try to think of an English equivalent for the riddle. I just left the critical words in romaji.
Later I realized that maybe the word "fun" could be mixed with the English word.

カンはカンでもフンがたくさんつまってるカンって何だ？
A kan is a kan, but what is a kan that is packed with lots of fun?

"Kan" could also mean 缶 (can) and "fun" could also mean 糞 (shit), so the riddle could also be interpreted as "What is a can that is full of shit?" :-)

Anyway, the answer is 時間 (ji-kan) which has 60 minutes 分 (fun).
